For 31 years, we have brought you the Harm Reduction International Conference – the main global forum for the exchange of information at the intersection of human rights, public health and drug policy; a place for the international harm reduction community to gather. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that we cannot safely gather in person for some time but our need to gather with our community is as strong as ever. And so, we bring you CONSTELLATIONS: An Online Festival on Drugs and Harm Reduction.
The COVID pandemic has forced us to work in greater isolation than ever. While there have been online conferences during this time, we hope that CONSTELLATIONS unique mix of content will attract even those among us who have resisted online events before now.
Through our Harm Reduction International Conference we have been expanding our audience to encompass a broader range of disciplines. We expect that CONSTELLATIONS will allow us to reach new audiences; both those whose work is tangentially related to harm reduction and the general public.
While a focus on injecting drug use is always critical, CONSTELLATIONS will broaden out harm reduction to talk about people s pleasure, freedom, enjoyment, bodily autonomy, as well as a wider range of psychoactive substances.
Harm Reduction International (HRI) is a leading charity dedicated to reducing the negative health, social and legal impacts of drug use and drug policy. The charity promotes the rights of people who use drugs and their communities through research and advocacy to help achieve a world where drug policies and laws contribute to healthier, safer societies.
Arranged to coincide with HRI’s 25th anniversary, CONSTELLATIONS is an opportunity to celebrate HRI’s activism and achievements in the field over a quarter of a century.
