GSHR+cover.jpg Harm Reduction International has launched a major new report entitled ‘Global State of Harm Reduction 2008: Mapping the response to drug-related HIV and hepatitis C epidemics’.

The report, co-authored by Harm Reduction International's Catherine Cook and Natalya Kanaef, consolidates existing data on drug use, HIV and hepatitis C, documents harm reduction policies and practices worldwide, and records the response to injection driven HIV and hepatitis C epidemics.

The Global State is the result of a year's work and collaborative efforts between Harm Reduction International, regional harm reduction networks and organisations and researchers around the world.

In the words of Professor Paul Hunt, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, "The Global State of Harm Reduction is a welcome and long overdue publication. As it develops, in print and online, it will, I hope, serve as a tool to assist not only in assessing the global state of harm reduction, but also the global state of the right to the highest attainable standard of health for people who use drugs"

The full report is available on the Harm Reduction International website.
